Celebration of the Independence Day of Republic of Moldova

This year on 27 August, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova in Skopje for the first time organized a reception on the occasion of celebrating the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova.

Republic of Moldova celebrated 22 years of independence at this reception attended by numerous guests, among which representatives of the central government, diplomatic corps accredited in Skopje, businessmen and members of Moldovan community. The guest had a wonderful opportunity to taste the spirit of Moldova by tasting of highly appreciated and widely known Moldovan wines and cognacs.

The Ambassador of Republic of Moldova to Republic of Macedonia with residence in Sofia, Mr. Alexandru Prigorschi, during his speech, emphasized the friendly nature of mutual relations and the increasing cooperation in various fields between Moldova and Macedonia. The opening of two honorary consulates in the course of this year, as well as organization of of economic and business visits were also mentioned, together with the cooperation from the field of European Integration as a great opportunity for both countries.

Although, Republic of Moldova and Republic of Macedonia are countries with traditionally well established friendly relations, mutual high level of comprehension, understanding and respect in the past 20 years specific outcomes failed to appear regarding to economic field, culture, education, sport and other phases of the society and social welfare.

The Government of Republic of Macedonia enacted a decision dated of 09 January 2013 to give a consent for opening a Honorary Consulate of Republic of Moldova in Republic of Macedonia Skopje. This decision attributed to opening mutual first diplomatic consular representative office at the level of Honorary Consulates after 21 years of independence to represent the mutual relations between Republic of Moldova and Republic of Macedonia.

The official opening of the Honorary Consulate of Republic of Moldova in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia was held on 29 May 2013 in the hotel Alexander Palace. The Honorary Consul of Republic of Moldova in Republic of Macedonia Mr. Serjoza Markov was officially introduced and the Ambassador of Republic of Moldova in Sofia, His Excellency, Mr. Alexandru Prigorschi as well as the Government Representative of R. Macedonia Mr. Jovan Andonovski, State Secretary in the Sector for Euro-integration at the Government of Republic of Macedonia held speeches.
